Origin of primordial proteins, evolutionary divergence (and convergence) of proteins, evolution of protein complexity (protein families).

Coffee Break 

Selection of functional mutations, examples of protein evolution, constrains that structure exerts on function and evolution of proteins.

Afternoon (15.00-18.00)

Practical session:

Phylogenetic reconstruction approaches, statistical models for the study of protein evolution.
